Theatre503, the Drama League and Opera America

It's been a great start to 2017! In January my short play POSITIVE THINGS was performed as part of Top Trumps at Theatre503, alongside a fascinating series of talk-backs about Trump's first 100 days in power. In February,  Jess Chayes received a 2017 Next Stages Drama League residency to workshop my play INTELLIGENCE and further develop its semi-immersive staging. This month Grace Oberhofer was awarded an Opera America Discovery Grant, which will enable us to continue collaborating with director Colette Robert on our trilogy of choral plays, ICONS/IDOLS. We start work in September and will be workshopping the script and score of each play through June 2018. Further updates coming at www.byzantinechoralproject.com.

FGP's Sounds Good in Live Design Magazine

Earlier this year, I took part in a fantastic FGP Challenge where I was paired with a sound designer and asked to create a short play inspired by a list of sound cues. Together with composer Grace Oberhofer and director Logan Reed, I created The Sixth Borough a play about New Yorkers trying to reach a more utopian place. Live Design interviewed all the participants and wrote this great piece about the unusual process of putting sound design first in the theatre process:

Grace and I then went on to work on ICONS/IDOLS at Ice Factory 2016, so it was a pretty successful first collaboration!
